The resting place of the 13th-century Sufi saint Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar, one of the most visited shrines in Pakistan.
Baba Farid made Pakpattan (then Ajodhan) his home, and his shrine was built over his grave after his death in 1265. His Punjabi verses are among the earliest in the language and are part of the Sikh scripture too.
The white marble tomb has a south-facing door, the Bahishti Darwaza (“Gate of Paradise”), opened during the annual urs in Muharram, when very large crowds gather.
